Welp, it's been 3 years since my last post and I am officially the worst blogger in this century. I must apologize to the five select people who know about the existence of this piece of literary prowess and have doubtlessly been waiting on the edge of their seats. However, I suddenly find myself with an excess of time on my hands and a peculiar, disquieting living situation that should be documented just in case I happen to disappear off the face of the Earth. In other words, conditions are perfect to reignite this baby.
Let's start with how I got to this state! (both my mental state in the physical state of Nebraska)
I left my life in Orlando behind in May and moved back home to St. Louis because I didn't want to commit to signing a lease and living there for another year. I loved working for Disney but hated living in the ultimate tourist destination with the ultimate number of annoying tourists. I also saw how difficult it was to succeed and move up in Disney, watching many of my friends and acquaintances simply get "stuck" in the framework and either become complacent or eventually leave. Overall, I'm glad that I left Orlando but I miss all of my friends like crazy. Here's a picture of me and all of my best buds on my last night there at every Disney cast member's favorite location for goodbyes, Ale House:

Good news, though! I booked a flight back on labor day weekend for some birthday celebrations. I can't wait. I'm sure there'll be a blog post to follow.
My very cooperative boyfriend, Chad, volunteered (#GoVols) to help me drive back from Florida. We have both been moving around lately, but I feel like I should be paying him by the mile based on the number of places I've dragged him in the past few months. On the inaugural day of our travels we made a day trip to Cumberland Island, a national seashore near Savannah, Georgia. When we got to the little mainland town around 10 am we grabbed a couple of sandwiches, chips, and cookies at this cute little shop across the street from the visitor's center. It was packed nicely in a paper bag so that you could share it with all of your pals in the cafeteria. At the end of the day, we stopped back here for some delicious homemade fudge!
There aren't many cars on the island; you simply take the ferry over and then travel around by foot or bike. We booked our ferry trip in advance because it supposedly fills up quickly and didn't plan out much else. It ended up working out wonderfully. We walked on a seaside trail and casually stopped for lunch at a picnic table alongside some wild horses. That's right, you "herd" it here first, folks. Cumberland Island has around 160 wild horses roaming freely about the land! We probably saw around 10, each one fervently munching on some grass.
After lunch we walked over to the Carnegie mansion ruins to explore, and then went in search of the beach. Luckily, Chad is handy with a map and has major orienteering skills. It was at this point that I would have been lost forever in the depths of the island if not for him. Well maybe not forever, but I probably would have missed the ferry and been raised by feral horses to this day. Anyway, here's a few pictures of the experience:

On the second day of our road trip, Chad and I stopped in Chattanooga, TN to check out Lookout Mountain (which happens to be in Georgia). We saw seven states at the lookout and what could be classified as an exorbitant amount of gnomes. We also learned that the first mini golf course was called "midget golf" and was actually created for gnomes, so shout out to gnomes for inspiring America's favorite pastime! My favorite part of this experience was trekking through a cave system in which Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" was casually playing. I've gotta say, when the beat finally dropped it was one of the most climactic moments of my entire life. Chad has since found ways to incorporate the piece into different situations, an endeavor which I hope he maintains for years to come. Here are some pictures of Lookout Mountain!

We left Lookout Mountain just in time to get majorly precipitated on and resume a soggy drive back to Missouri. We made it in tact, though! This post is already getting kind of long so I'll end it here. I'll leave you with this:
